Brown Mushroom

Brown Mushroom is a type of fungi that grows in darker areas (in caves or under trees). They are also found in the Nether. Mushrooms spread very slowly.

Like flowers mushrooms can be collected with one hit. They will also pop out if pushed by a piston or flowing water.

Mushrooms can be grown on any solid, non-transparent block, but only grow if the light level is below 13. They grow more quickly if the light level is under 5. Since Beta 1.8 mushrooms will only spread when there are less then 5 mushrooms in an 9x9x3 area around the original mushroom.

If exposed to light levels higher then 12 the mushroom will pop out if the block next to it updates. If Bone Meal is used on a  brown mushroom, it will grow into a Huge Brown Mushroom.

Brown Mushrooms are more common than Red Mushrooms.
