Mojang released patch 1.7 for Minecraft. While it has a number of significant changes, this is not the “Adventure Update”. Due to some bugs patch 1.7_01 1.7.2 and 1.7.3 have been released since.
Patch 1.7 may not be the Adventure Update, but it contains a number of nice changes. Patch 1.7 has since been updated to 1.7_01. This post will be updated with other 1.7 updates as soon as they are released.
1.7 Changes
- Pistons have been added to the game: the are 2 types, a regular and a sticky version
- Shears have been added to the game: used for cutting leaves and gathering wool from sheep
- TNT changes: TNT is no longer activated by punching it, it has to be triggered by redstone or fire
- Stackable fences: fences can now be stacked without having to resort to “alternative” building methods. Torches can also be placed on fences now
- New textures for cobblestone and bricks
Not included in 1.7
Patch 1.7 does NOT include:
- The new lighting engine
- Underground ravines
- Adventure Mode or any other new game mode (this is for patch 1.8)
- Fence gates: Jeb explained that doors are programmed on the edge of blocks and fence are in the middle. Combining the two will be difficult.
